Winterize Your MoodBody, mind, and spirit are all involved in keeping a good mood. But this time of year it is your body that is going to play the biggest role in getting you down or conversely in keeping your mood positive.
It is easy for our minds are keep focus on positive thoughts with the ghosts of Christmas past and present all around. And our spirit always lifts when we hear the children singing in church or we the perfect gift for someone we love. The real problem this time of year is physical. We not only eat like crap but it is often dark when we go to work and dark when we get home. And the cold chill in the air chases away any thoughts of getting active. Sadly, (excuse the pun) this is also the time of year when the stress and demands on our time are the highest. More stress and with no recovery time becomes a perfect formula for the winter blues. |
Five Blind Men and the ElephantThis ancient story is about a kind of blindness that can effect all people. We know what we know, and yet ironically, that knowledge limits our vision regarding what we don't know or how you we perceive what others have experienced. This wonderful story of inclusiveness applies to religion, cultural views, and politics. But here, you will see how the story of the 5 blind men also can be applied to our understanding of the science of psychology. Sadly psychology is fractured into several different school of thought. By using PATTERNING (SM), you will see how all these division could be brought together into one system of thought.

"I Think I Can" Is WRONG!Cute story but the strategy is all wrong. Once you understand the patterns of thinking that best create a sense of flow, you will see that telling yourself "I Think I Can" will not work to create happiness. "Positive thoughts" like what we see in the Little Engine That Could can even produce more unhappiness than happiness.
A better approach is to focus on positive intentions. Positive intentions better fit the patterns of thought increases happiness. Intentions focus on our goals, and not our abilities, thereby avoiding self-doubt. Our intentions also pull us toward our desires instead of pushing us, hence avoiding internal conflict. |
Focus on Your What Not Your HowPeople who are happy think different then unhappy people. One of the differences comes down to their focus WHAT and HOW. Happy people focus on WHAT they want, their goals and dreams. Unhappy people focus too much on the HOW they are going to get what they want.
Happy people are intentional and as they focus on their ideals they keep their energy up and focused out. Unhappy people want to feel love and joy, but they are focused inward and worried about not being love. That collapse of energy puts them into an unhappy state. |
